Ms. Kim - Founder, Director, Educator

B.A,  CTC Site Supervisor,  CPR & First Aid Certified, Health & Safety Certified

Kim Larrivee is an early childhood educator in beautiful Ventura, CA. She has been teaching preschool for a total of 12 years, while raising her two children. She grew up in Vancouver, Canada where she earned her Bachelor's degree at Simon Fraser University. Kim relocated with her husband here in 2002 and she expanded on her education with Child Development classes, with a current total of 41 units in child development.  She started her first teaching job shortly after she began classes.  A couple of years after her first child was born, he was diagnosed with  Sensory Processing Disorder, Childhood Apraxia of Speech and later ADD-Pi. Kim dedicated much of her time to educating herself about the disorders, navigating the education system, and being a strong advocate for her son. This first hand experience has allowed Kim to uniquely assist parents who are facing these challenges for the first time. Kim enjoyed a ten year career at a local preschool where she gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in working with many different ages from toddlers to 5 year old's. Kim spent the last 4 years of her career at the preschool teaching 4 year old's, as well as developing and teaching a STEAM enrichment class. With the onset of Covid-19 Kim made the decision to change career paths and develop her love of STEAM and teaching into her own program. She began teaching STEAM enrichment classes to small groups outdoors in the community this love has now developed into the creation of Sunnyside Adventures Preschool. Kim loves to spend time with her husband of 22 years, two fantastic children, and rescue dog. She loves to travel and try new adventures with her family.
